Who would have thought a new adventure would begin with a little jeep trespassing at a “breakup party”?
Friends, we cannot tell it better than they can. Experience their full Engagement Film below.
BEHIND THE SCENES: MINI LAKE TAHOE WINTER ADVENTURE WITH RILEY AND CASSIE
Since Cassie and Riley are coming from different states (Cassie in SF, Riley in New Mexico), they have envisioned their engagement film to be a casual afternoon of winter fun.
Hours before New Year’s eve, we took Cassie and Riley out to Lake Tahoe. Our first stop was at Mt. Rose where we let them play with snow.
We don’t know how Riley did it but he filled up their balloon without a pump…in record time! Lung power!!
Dax “rocked” an old school scuba diver look.
And Pao..uh…she’s just into crazy animal hats. Yes, we are sane. Why do you ask?
MT. ROSE LOOKOUT
This happened while Pao is setting up her camera and nope, we did not pose them here. That’s just Riley taking good care of his beautiful bride.
How was the view, guys?
SAND HARBOR
Dax probably said something very cheesy here.
Thinking Sand Harbor is warmer, we decided to do their interviews here.
NOPE. It was actually colder because of the winds so we had to cut shooting there shorter.
Cassie and Riley were great sports though and managed to make filming them an enjoyable experience.
Riley amazed us with his mutual admiration of LOTR and Cassie’s sweet smiles warmed the otherwise finger-pricking cold for the rest of us.
We then headed to our last destination: Emerald Bay.
We hitched a ride in their Subaru Outback so we can capture them as they travel.
We were greeted, however, with slow traffic in South Lake Tahoe. Despite the worries of missing Emerald Bay’s sunset, Cassie and Riley regaled us with funny stories of New Mexico, travel recommendations in San Francisco, their hunt for their wedding venue, their budding careers (Cassie is an occupational therapist) and…petroleum issues (Riley is a petroleum engineer). Nothing better than exchanging stories over pita wraps and energy bars with these two!
EMERALD BAY
Because of the traffic, we almost missed the sunset. This spot right here is a beautiful spot near Eagle Falls.
It’s great that we had this spot for ourselves even for a few minutes.
Film stills from Dax’s glider shots.
We had a minor issue with Cassie’s recording back in the windy Sand Harbor but Cassie, being really sweet, gamely recorded hers before we set out back to Reno.
Yes, she’s one tough AND adorable woman!
Aaaand that’s it for Cassie and Riley’s Lake Tahoe winter engagement :)

Riley and Cassie, thank you again for letting us capture your love. Despite the coldness and threats of celebrating New Years in a car, both of you still stayed amazing and open-hearted! You had us laughing and marvelling at your realness, wittiness and sweetness and we couldn’t feel more honored that you spent the last afternoon of your 2014 with us :)
Congratulations again on your upcoming wedding and we wish you all the best in your marriage! Much love, Dax and Pao.
